Hi,
Strictures are an item I am an expert at. I have had 5 of them so far.
Strictures in plain language is a scab. They form at the area in the
stomach when they sew everything together. Some people never have had one,
and those of us that have know first hand how it feels. If you ever have
one, it takes just about 5 minutes to get rid of it.
I hope you never get one.

Hi Sandy,
I just wanted to wish you the best of luck with your surgery. My name is
also Sandy, I will be 45 in May and my weight was 430 pounds. (Although I
have recently lost a few on my own) You sounded like me when I read your
profile. Same name, age and weight. It made me smile. Although my insurance
company is giving me a fit and doesn't want to pay, I will get there
someday too. The Sandy's are gonna make it... just wait and see!!!

There are different types of strictures.Mine are in my throat and
make
it extreamly hard at times ,sometimes impossible to swollow food. I've had
to have
8 endoscopie dilataions to open up my esphogus enough to swollow food.
You'd think this would help you loose weight but no way, you end up
eating ice cream , or anything you can swollow easily . So, I suppose
strictures can be in your stomach also. Mine are caused by gastric reflux.
Stomach acid comes up into my throat and burns it and leaves these scars.
They are horrible and I hope you don't have them anywhere! Your throat or
your stomach. They can be so bad that you can feel like sharp pain through
to your back. So, I don't wish them on anyone. Good luck.
