Question:
NO INSURANCE?
I really wanna have this surgery, to help myslef and maybe to help me even live longer, but , i dont have health insurance are there any programs that will assist me with the cost or do they have some type of payment plan with a down payment, can anyone relate or have any kind of input on this? — bigman8 (posted on April 1, 2006)

I have had to switch employers to get an insurance carrier that will cover
this surgery. But I know that there are many individuals who have received
this procedure with their Medicaid benefits from the state, you have to
qualify to get it done, but if you truly need it, it is an available
option.

I was an uninsured stay at home mom when I made the decision to have
surgery. I sought employment, waited for insurance to take effect and
proceeded. It took me 10 months, but I did it. Other than that, I know
Cap One has a medical credit card, but I've never investigated the terms.

I had to be a self-pay for the gastric bypass. I found a great European
company that helped me schedule the surgery and they even work with a
company for funding. My surgery cost just under 10k....affordable and
great care. Email me if you want more details... :)

YOu can apply for a "medical" loan. You might want to look under
"Local Resources" in the obesityhelp.com site. You could also do
a search for medical loans using Google, Yahoo or some other type of search
engine. I like to use www.mamma.com because it combines several search
engines at once when you do a search. Good luck!!
