DOes anyone have input about a tempoary Vegan diet, i just started it today i need to lose 35 more lbs. But is it safe for a bariatric patient to do this diet — JAR (posted on January 9, 2006)

You might want to check with your doctor because I still think you have to
get in your protein. You maybe at a stall -- so be careful about what you
decide to do.

My experience with vegan diets is that they tend to be high in
carbohydrates. My body does not work very well on a high carbohydrate diet
and I tend to gain weight.
I think that as long as you get in the required amount of protein, you
should be ok but I don't know that this is necesarily the best method of
losing weight.
If you are post-op, you should probably check with your surgeon or at least
primary care doctor because you may have different nutritional needs.
I'm curious as to why you are choosing to do a vegan diet for weight loss?

It is very difficult to get enough protein on a Vegan diet. I guess you
have to eat lots of beans and tofu.
