Plane vit. E does wonders. Pop a capsule open and around and on the
incision site it goes.(providing your are scabbed over. I have done this
before with my open gallbladder and my scar looks wonderful, and no
itching!

My guess is to wait a few days after surgery. I used it and vitimin E on
the scar. They work good.

my surgeon said absolutely no ointments on your incision
site...I'm sure he meant immediately post op while I still
had staples in....after they were out, it itched alittle,
but I just made sure it was washed in the shower well, and
dried thoroughly when I got out. It's just a pink color now,
which he says will eventually fade to white.

I was told by my surgeon NOT to put anything on my incision until it was
completely healed. He said then I could start to use a cream called
Mederma that is purchased at Wal-Mart. So far it has been helpful to
lessen the color and the thickness of the scars. THere is not a sure fire
way to "get rid" of these scars. I look at them as my life
savers. Just my two cents. My surgeon also said DO NOT use vitamin E.
Worse thing you could use.

I was told by doctor not to put anything onit until the staples came out.
Just to keep it dry and clean. Besides, I didn't want to rub on the
staples anyhow. One they came out on day 10 I started using neosporin. I
also heard that something called vita-K was good to help the scar heal
better. I have to say at 6 weeks post-op my scar looks and feels good.
Good luck to you.

this might sound crazy, but it works on scarring & burns....
melt cocoa butter and vitamin E together in the microwave till melted
completely. it really works!

I used Neosporin on my incision as soon as the tape came off. My scar is
there but looks pretty good (per my plastic surgeon) and yes I believe the
neosporin helped make the scar not so nasty looking. As far as itching
well that's just part of the territory, it will make you crazy but will
power will get you thru!

I saw a plastic surgeon today, and he said Neosporin was NOT a good thing
to use on the incision. He said it keeps it from healing and reddens it. I
had been using it for the past two weeks and my incision is as red as can
be and itches like crazy------ I'm tossing the Neopsporin out!

I must be really bad! I used Peroxide and antibiotic cream. My incision
looks fantastic. I did not have staples just internal sutures. But....you
had better listen to your Doctor..
