My doctor recommended zinc and beta carotene. I started this about ten
days ago and I already see a difference in the amount falling out. The
last 2 days I have had minimal amount coming out. I am 4 months post op may
have slowed on it's on a little, thought I would be bald (lol) by 6 months.
I read the Q&A database catergories and others recommended the same
vitamins. Good Luck

My doctor suggested that I get B-12 shots weekly. I started getting them
in January and it has helped tremendously. It also helps with extra
energy. I have been told that I will have to have them for the rest of my
life.
Good Luck!!!

Hi. I'm not sure of the exact name of the supplement I take but it is made
by Sundown and I usually purchase it at Wal-mart. Besides this and my
regular multi-vitamin, I also take extra zinc and B-complex and I use
Nioxin shampoo exclusively. (Nioxin can be purchased from your
hairdresser...I've used it for about 5 years) I have extremely fine hair
and not alot of it so I was also concerned about hair loss after my wls. I
make sure I get in the recommended daily amounts of protein and
occasionally get an extra shot of b-12 from my pcp. I'm (VERY) happy to
say that I've not noticed any additional hair loss since my surgery. Good
luck, cj

I'm 4.5 months postop and haven't had any hair loss yet. I started taking
the two chewable children's vitamins recommended by my surgeon the day I
came home from the hospital along with biotin twice a day and 1/2 tablet of
zinc 50 mg twice a day (I split it in half because it bothered my stomach a
bit). I also made sure I took in at least 65 mg of protein a day (that was
the amount recommended to me by the dietician) starting the day I came home
from the hospital. I added extra scoops of protein supplement to my
liquids, used non-fat dry milk and evaporated milk to add more protein
(this was also recommended by the dietician). You have to get enough
protein every single day. I also added a B-complex vitamin after my 6 week
check (dietician again). You might want to check the data base to find
other suggestions.
