Question:
When will you dump if you are going to? Will it be immediately or and hour later?

When I dumped it was right away. The people I have spoken to also have
dumped right away.

If you're going to dump, it's generally pretty quickly (within half an
hour). But, I've known people who've dumped up to two hours after eating
something they shouldn't. So, you never can be quite sure. It's what
keeps me "honest".

Hi, five years of dumping I consider myself an expert. : ), most of the
time you dump within 20 minutes of eating the offending food. Mostly sugar,
but food high in fat can do it too as well as eating too fast. I
occasionally dump after an hour or two after eating, doesn't happen often,
but they are usually worse and last longer. I'm kind of glad I dump, it
reminds me to not eat that stuff and it keeps me thin. It appears I have a
short memory.

I am one and half years out. I did not start dumping till about a year
after my surgery. Dr. said that is quite unusualy. Thought I was having a
heart attack or something. Sweats, dizzy, sick to my stomach and sometimes
diarrhea. Usually happens in about 30 minutes, although sometimes longer.
It is not that I am intentionally eating the wrong things, it makes me
aware that this food is not going to work for me anymore. I now carry some
hard candy with me all the time because my blood sugar also decides to take
a dip at times.

I don't know if I'm one of the lucky ones in that I don't dump. In the year
since my RNY I have dumped once and it was on a cruise when I drank two
pina coladas back to back. Looking back at it I think the two contained
somewhere in the neighborhood of over 2200 calories and most of that was
sugar. So I guess technically I do dump it just takes a massive amount of
sugar to trigger it. Each of us has had the same surgery but each of us is
unique in how our body responds!

It usually hits me about 2.5 hours after I eat something and it is when I
least expect it, like when I am shopping. Yuck!

I normally dump with in 1/2 hour to and hour within eating something that
does not agree with me. I am very cautious of what I put in my mouth,
because dumping is such an unpleasant experience. I have had to go to the
hospital onced because I knew I was dying.
