Question:
Hypoglycemia pre op
I have low blood sugar and have not had the bypass yet, Has anyone had this and still ok to have surgery? — RainDiva (posted on February 12, 2010)

I had the same issue when I started my pre-op liquid diet. Consult your
doctor. If you are on diabetic meds already, they will want to make an
adjustment. But the bottom line is consult your doctor, that's what you are
paying them for.

I also had hypoglycemia and was concerned about having surgery. My surgeon
explained everything to me and assured me that it would be fine and I have
not had a problem with low blood sugar since surgery. I am a month post op
from having a sleeve gastrectomy and feel great. Maybe it is all the
protein that I drink. I agree with the prior post though and consult your
surgeon so you are 100% comfortable with your decision. Good Luck!!

I am also hypoglycemic, and I have to tell you I get a lot more reactions
now than I used to. Your Doc may want to try a different procedure on you
because of it. Be sure to talk to him or her about this it's important.
Once you have the surgery it's too late. I wish I had done another
procedure because of it. Hope this helps.
