Question:
Can drs revise a RNY gastric bypass to a laproscopic duodenal switch? If so, who?
I had a laproscopic gastric bypass about 6 years ago and was very successful. I went from 339 lbs to 189 lbs at my lowest. I gained about 20 lbs initially and stabalized at about 210 for the next 4 years. I got pregnant through invitro and ended up in the hospital for a month because my body retained the fluid with the pregnancy. We eventually lost the baby in month 5. Since then (10/2007), I have ballooned. I am currently at 300lbs again. I am now 42 years old and I have got to do something soon. I have 2 lovely children (both adopted, 15.5 months and 8 months ) and I want be able to play with my babies as they grow up. I have researched the duodenal switch and it seems the way I want to go, but I would prefer to have the laproscopic surgery. Is that possible after a RNY gastric bypass? If so, who? I live in the Dallas, TX area. Is there anyone here? If not, I am willing to travel. Thanks! — chklatkiss (posted on November 17, 2009)

I'm pretty certain, well about 90% certain that a DS is not done
laproscopically anywhere, it's a pretty big open surgery because they have
to go to different parts of your anatomy for access. If I am wrong,
someone chime in. I know there are plenty of DS doctors that do revisions,
just not lap.

Maybe a lapband around your RNY pouch would be an easier alternative.

Check with LadyDi1970. She had it done in April.
