Question:
How many calories are you 5-6 months ouut eating?

I just started trackgni my calories now that I think I have my eating down pretty well and I'm getting in my protein & water, btu it seems pretty low - somewhere between 500-700. Is this in your range at all? I'm just trying to see if I need to adjust this. I went to a support group meeting last week and my surgeon's office reccommends that I go up to 8oz food per meal after 3 months, and I am no where close to that - I still eat around 4oz per meal. Just wondering how I compare food-wise. Thanks a bunch!    — stellarsan (posted on October 28, 2009)

I don't know what surgery you had but for an RNY it should be less than 800 calories in the first 12-18 months, 1000-1200 thereafter.

my nut told me that between 5-6 months out I should be eating between 5-6 oz of food. 3 oz protein and the other 2-3 oz veggies, fruit, little bit of starch. By 1 year I could be eating around 8 oz. the earlier post said less than 800 for the first 12-18 months for RNY seems pretty low to me. Between my calcium chews, protein shake and the benefiber I have to take, that's about 320 cal right there. If you're satisfied with the amount you're eating and your getting in all your protein, water and supplements then I say ride the wave as long as you can. Good luck.

Our clinic says to try to keep meals as little as possible for as long as possible. The Honeymoon will end and you will have hunger and there could be weight gain eventually. At 5-6 months calorie goal was between 600-800 a day. I am 16 months out, eat 4 oz a meal and eat 4-5 times a day. I get in about 85 ounces of liquid, 75 grams of protein using shakes or bars to help me, and about 1300-1500 calories a day to maintain my 120 weight. I started out at 238 lbs. I got to goal in 10 months. I go the gym atleast 3 times a week and do circuit training or ride bike. On my workout days I consume the 1500 calories. Hope this helps you some. Best of luck to you!
