Question:
potassium and hemoglobin
The day of surgery do they check you potassium levels as well as your hemoglobin. I thought if you were canadian they cannot do bloodwork over there. — cuppaloopy (posted on October 23, 2009)

On my surg day ..yes blood work was done. I dont understand..why being
Canadian would make your blood work not be done? Are you using a Hospital
of Excellance? Have you spoken with the Dr and asked what they will do at
the hospital? I wish you well in your journey.

I am going to henryford. They are a hospital of excellence. I didn't know
if it was covered because ohip doesn't state that bloodwork is covered over
there.

I would think that blood work is ESSENTIAL for this surgery no matter where
you have it. The first night they came in and took blook work for
potassium levels to determine if potasium levels were low.

I can't imagine a hospital not doing blood work before surgery whether it's
US, Canadian or French. Are you Canadian?
