Question:
Your favorite protein bar
With my lifestyle I can see myself probably taking advantage of protein bars etc..like Soyjoy for instance. What are the good ones for us to have as postop RNY people. — Kathleen F. (posted on June 25, 2009)

My son and I love the pure protein bars. It's hard to keep them in the
house.

I must sound like a broken record, but whenever someone asks about protein
bars I always have the same answer. TINY MEAL NUTRITIONAL BAR...COMES IN
PEANUT BUTTER, ALMOND, OR MINT.
I get it from R-Kane Products...on-line....THEY ARE REALLY GOOD...JUST AS
GOOD AS A REAL CHOCOLATE BAR.....they contain 15 grams of protein and are
only about 145 calories. They really are A MEAL IN ITSELF.....KEEPS ME FULL
WITHOUT EVEN THINKING OF SNACKING BETWEEN MEALS....AND AT THE END OF THE
DAY, IF I HAVEN MET MY PROTEIN REQUIREMENTS, I always can add in a Tiny
Meal Bar at minimal calories. These bars have been my "answer" to
cravings and fulfilling protein requirements....Good Luck to you.

I like the Premier Protein Bars - you can get them at Costco - 2 boxes of
12 - 3 flavors in each box: Double Chocolate Crunch, Chocolate Peanut
Butter, Yogurt Covered Peanut butter - and they are all good! I use them
as a meal replacement - each one has 30 grams of protein, and 285 calories
- too many calories for a snack, but just right for a meal. They are great
if you are on the go. Costco charges $22 for the 24 bars, so not a bad
deal.

I absolutely love the Jim's PermaLean Protein Bars, the chocolate is my
favorite, but the peanut butter is great as well. Just do a search you can
get them lots of places, I buy mine with my vitamins at Bariatric
Advantage. They are 190 cals, 17 carbs, 2 fiber, 21 g protein and they
taste just like a really good candy bar. I cut mine in half and have them
as a snack when I am low on protein for the day. Even my skinny kids love
them.

PURE PROTEIN bars for me. Since I dump on sugar, I found these have the
least sugar of all of them - only about 2gms per bar.

Two of my favorites include: Rock-n-Roll bars by LABRADA (think PayDay
candy bar) and Supreme Protein bars(chocolate caramel nut) OMGoodness,
these two are the bomb! Both under 5gms of sugar-low carb and high protein
(20-30gms per)The Vitamin Shoppe carries both, and I have also purchased
the Supreme Protein bars at GNC. Try them!
