Question:
Lap Band Adjustments
I had my lapband surgery on March 9th, 09 and I am having my first fill today, May 6. Is it normal to have to wait almost two months for your first fill or even to see your Doctor? — catt (posted on May 6, 2009)

Most doctors wait 6 weeks to do a fill. You will most likely be on liquids
for a month or so. I waited 8 weeks for my first fill. I could have gone
in sooner, but was unable to. Just take it one day at a time. The main
thing is that you get to goal and keep the weight off. Once you get to
good restriction you will not need any more fills. Good luck.

I think that is ridiculous. But that is just my opinion based on how my
doctor does things. :0)

Personlly I think that is to long unless you had complications. I had my
lap on April 1st, and just had my first fill on the 5th of May. And I was
starving most the time. I had no complications was home, after a stay in a
motel by the surgical center and walking a 3/4 mile with in the first 7
days. My first fill was 4cc, and it has taken the edge of alittle, but
still feel hungry. I only had to do liquids the day of fill, the mushy
food the following day, regular food. Am scheduled to go back for another
fill June 2nd. Hope your fill helps you. Good luck.

I saw my Dr 1 week post op so he could check the incisions, etc. First fill
at 6 weeks. I was on solid foods by 6 weeks, only had to follow liquid diet
for a few days post op. Each Dr is different. I would clarify with the Dr
when the next visit should be.(Sometimes the staff gets it mixed up). I can
say that because I work in a medical office and on occasion, there is a
lack of communication between the staff and the Dr.
