That sounds just plain wrong! What does dyslexia have to do with WLS??? And what does your memory of things that happened long ago have to do with WLS? Did you use a psychotherapist recommended by your surgeon? I'd get a second opinion, if I were you!!!

I agree, my social worker consult never had anything to do with long term memory or reading or writing problems. I am sure he is wrong, he didnt say for sure that you would not be a good candidate, right?

Doesn't the psychotherapist realize that, as an adult, you've learned coping mechinisms and how to deal with your problems. She/he doesn't realize that you have great coping mechinisms so you can deal with things and you can easily transfer that knowledge to WLS instruction. Does your surgeon have any other psychotherapists that you can see?

you need to go to a psyc who is works with your bari sergon. call your sergons office and ask them to recomend one. that also goes for any other pre surgery test you will have to do. let the surgons offfice recomend who to go to. when you use your dr.
