Question:
I am almost a month out from surgery and I can eat pretty much anything.
I don't eat a lot, but I can eat. Anyone else like that? — forevernbluejeans (posted on September 28, 2008)

Have you had LapBand or RNY? If LapBand, initially you don't have a lot of
restriction until you have a few fills. If RNY, some people have a lot of
restriction and have troubles for a while, some people are just the
opposite and can eat quite a bit. I guess I would need more information.
Good luck,

My question to you is"Why are you eating everything?" What does
your Doctors protocol say you should be eating at this stage? I would talk
to your Dr and nutritionist to get you going in the right direction. Take
care and good luck..Lori

My husband and I both had lap rny. He can eat anything and everything and
has been able to since early out. He can eat alot if he lets himself, but
doesn't. He never gets that ful uncomfortable feeling..
I on the other hand have problems digesting high fat, I get dizzy and
lightheaded from sugar, I have problems with pork and chicken, and get very
full very fast...I am grateful for the really full really fast and will be
very sad if I lose that. It keeps me in check and makes me stop eating...
My husband is 9 months out and I am 3. he has lost 150lbs and I have lost
90...I am forced to eat better because of my limitations and as you can see
it makes a difference on the scale..he has to work harder at keeping
control over what he eats were as I have an automatic reminder....that is
very unpleasant...It is a very good thing it happened this way because I am
a food junkie and need this, he is not and can keep an OK control. He did
not live for food as I did..

I am not sure what kind of surgery you had but I had lapband and totally
understand. I am on my 5th week and I know I have gained back almost all I
lost in the first few weeks. My doctor was not too concerned. He
understands that we have a problem with food and until we have the band
filled with more restriction it will be much harder. It will always be a
battle but I am looking forward to the restriction. Either way you should
talk to your doctor about your concerns. Good luck

Hello... I am glad you posted this question. I had my lapband done on
9/18/08 and in the beginning I was instructed to have only liquids for the
first 4 days, and then soft proteins for the remainder of the month. I have
not had any problems so far, course I haven't had a fill yet either. I have
noticed that I have cut way back on my portions ( I am still losing) but if
I wanted to I could possibly eat a great deal more. I have a 20 minute time
frame to eat until I am "satisfied" and I have to pay close
attention. I would consider your tolerance of food a blessing. I have heard
others stating that they are surviving on protein drinks and are
experiencing hair loss. Good luck

you must of had a different dr. my doc put me on a pretty strick diet. i am
still only eating full liquids. and it makes me pretty nervous it think
about not paying attension to them. i am only three weeks post op, and with
all the problems other people have had, the biggest thing i have heard is
listen to your doc. i know several people that have had surgery and now are
back at the starting wieght. so i guess i'd be very careful, remember why
you did this.

I had Gastric Bypass and am 20 days Post Op. I Would think your Dr. would
have given you a schedule of what to eat in what week eg.. 1st week is
clear liquid only like broth, water, tea, jello. 2nd week is Full liquid
like pureed veg soup, pudding ect. 3rd week is pureed/soft food like pureed
tuna, chicken, vegetables, turkey, oatmeal, mash potatoes (this stage could
take 1-3 weeks) and then finally the 4th week is reg food chicken, fish,
beef, eggs, veg, baked potato, dry cereal, rice, pasta ect. But remember you
must not rush these foods give your stomach time to heal you may not
tolerate some foods at first and limit your servings 3 oz to 1/2 cup. I
only eat between 3 & 4 ounces. Good luck. Denise from NY
