I'm wondering if you are perhaps having the urge to swallow so much because of "the foamies" or sliming? If you don't chew your food to the consistency of applesauce after WLS, you shouldn't swallow it. If you don't chew properly, sometimes you will develop some foamie or slimy saliva to help the food go down, or up. If I eat too much at one sitting or take too big a bite of something, I will foam or slime. As far as the gas goes, you probably are swallowing air. Are you drinking carbonated beverages? Are you chewing gum? That will sometimes cause you to swallow air as well. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC
