Another surgery wont help you if you don't get your head on straight first.
I would suggest some therapy and then maybe a specialist to help get your
weight loss tool back on track.

I agree with making sure you get help for your mental health and I can
sympathize with you on that one. But yes check out the StomaphyX, by Endo
Gastric Solutions. Its a procedure to help bypass pt's who have gained
weight back

I would go for mental help. I go because I am Bipolar and just saw my
doctor today and I told him if I run into a problem with eating I will call
him immediately. I am off my depression medicine and have been since
February and I am doing okay. Keep busy, go exercise and get back to
basics with the gastric bypass diet, maybe you can salvage your surgery.
Good Luck...

Hello-This journey is not easy by any means and mental health situations
can have adverse reactions. I had RNY and I have gained weight also from
car accidents I had last year. I didn't shed as much as I needed to with
RNY and it's not for lack of busting my ass. There is another surgery that
RNY can be converted to but it's not an easy journey either. Check out the
DS forum and do some research. If you'd like to talk about it; I'm here. We
are all in this together and have similar journeys. My email is
[email protected]. Best of luck! God bless!

I agree with everyone else's advice. You need to seek some sort or
counseling or therapy. Food is an addiction just as much as drugs, alcohol,
gambling, etc. I had a really hard time after my surgery (depression) I
went to extensive measures to get my "head" together. I wanted to
be successful in losing the weight. I also found out in the long run that I
am bipolar as well. Good Luck to You.

You probably should get some help for your mental issues before you go
looking for more weight loss surgery. If you have already DONE that and
you are looking for help because you have stretched out your gastric pouch,
then there is a new procedure out there that seems designed just for you.
It is called stomaphyX. You can get the basic idea of the procedure from
here: http://www.themorbidme.com/2007/09/stomaphyx-incis.html . Do some
research on your own and see if you can find a surgeon in your area that
can do the procedure.
Basically the short version is that they place a device down your esophagus
and use some posts to draw the sides of the pouch up and make the available
volume of the pouch smaller. There is no cutting involved. The entire
operation is done through the esophagus and inside the pouch.
I hope this helps,

its not a permanent regiment nor is a a magic wond to make the fat on your
body to disappear. you have the tool. try to use it. go and see a nutrition
for your diet. to make sure your eating healthy. are you working out.
drinking a lot of water? did you stretch your stomach out? im sorry to
hear that you gained your weight back , but try to see if you tool is still

After you have dealt with your emotional issues and if you still need some
surgical help, I agree with others about Stomaphyx.... also, my surgeon is
doing quite a few LapBands over Bypass every month. Might be something to
consider.

My niece, who is also Bipolar, had gastric bypass surgery over 6 years ago
and kept the weight off successfully for some time. Then about 1 year ago
she began gaining the weight back. When this happened, she did not become
upset or worried. She told me that all she did was "recharge" or
"reset" her WL tool. She simply started eating like she did when
she first had her surgery. She started on an all clear liquid diet for
several weeks, then went to the soft/puree diet for several weeks, and then
on to Phase III. Within months she was losing the weight she had gained
and is now back down to her goal weight. I was thoroughly amazed because I
had no idea that a person could "recharge" their weight loss. I
hope this information is helpful to you. I am Bipolar also and if in the
future I gain some of my weight back, I will try my niece's suggestion.
