Question:
I blew my diet at lunch. Lap Band 4-16-08

I normally have a piece of grill chicken but today I wanted a subway sandwich and I got a roasted turkey breast on wheat bread with no dressing, tomato, little lettuce, and onions and that is more than I usually eat but I ate the whole thing. I haven't had my first fill yet, 5-28-08 but did I stretch the pouch?    — dyates2948 (posted on May 14, 2008)

You did not strech your pouch. When my band had no saline in it I ate like a regular person( I did not lose any weight when I did this) but 3 fills later I can only eat as much as my 1 yr old. It is hard when you have no restriction you really have to use your will power. Eating Subway was a good choice but I would try a salad next time cause once your band is filled you will no longer be able to eat bread the way you did before. but at least you chose a subway sandwich instead of a big mac.

No restriction lets you eat more as the food still goes through the band into the stomach. Once you are filled corectly you most likely will not even be able to tolerate bread.

Thanks for the info, I was kind of wondering the same myself, I have not had my first fill yet and have really had to use my will power to not overeat. I'm mostly over the healing stage (surgery on 4/14) so my tummy is feeling much better and I want to snack! I'm glad it won't be this way after the fill...or I might as well have just gone on a diet.

You don't have a pouch... I suppose its possible that you could stretch the top of your stomach (as the band, to my understanding divides it into to sections), however, since you haven't had any fills, food would likely go down through the band into the rest of your stomach and not stretch anything.

Dont worry you havent done any damage. I did the same thing by eating a whole smart ones meal at one time. I got my first fill this past Tues. and now I`m not hungry at all, but I still make myself eat something each meal and snack time like the dr told me. I can only eat about a Tbs. of chicken salad with 4 social crackers for a meal, so then for my snack I ate 2 Tbs. of peanut butter, trying to get as much protein in me so I dont have to take them darn protein shakes. My Dr. gave me 4cc in my 10cc band so my next fill will be in another 4wks. I know about 2 wks after my surgery I felt I could eat anything but I really had to work hard by not giving in time to time. So once when you have your first fill you will see a big difference. Good Luck and dont be to hard on yourself.

I feel the same way you do. I am post op 12 pounds 4-28-08. I am finding it difficult to eat correctly. The swelling is going down. My first fill is 5-30-08, and I find it difficult not to overeat. I still watch what I eat. Hand in there!!!
