Do not worry. I can eat a whole bowl of soup but barely eat 1/2 a
sandwhich. I think it just depends on what you are eating as to how much
will fit in there. I had my RNY 4 1/2 years ago.

Lettuce is one of the foods that "packs down" allowing you to eat
more than the standard volume. Just watch the high calorie dressings.

You 'overloaded' ONCE? No, you most likely have not permanently stretched
your pouch. I have a 'no more than a fist' rule which I relax when I eat
pop-corn. But the crunched-up pop-corn is probably no bigger than a fist.
With regular food, I eat fast - a fistful in 10 to 15 minutes maximum. This
cfauses my pouch to stretch slightly and sends an "I'm full"
messqage to my brain. It's not enough of a stretch to do permanent damage.
If you eat too slowly, you won't get the minimal stretch and may well want
to keep eating well after you've consumed the volume of a fist. If this is
what you are doing, you THINK you are eating enough to stretch your pouch
but infact are not stretching it at all. This is bad because you can
consume a lot more calories in a day than you should have. If you're not
working it all off with a *lot* of extra exercise, guess what? You're going
to gain weight again!
