Question:
I had lap-band surgery 5 days ago. I have a bad burning sensation each time that I
try to drink anything even water. The burning doesn't go away. Is this a normal reaction? — cagee_1 (posted on September 2, 2007)

That doesn't sound right to me. You might want to visit your Dr. I had a
"punched in the stomach multiple times" sensation, but it never
hurt to drink.

Sounds like you need to call your DR and ask him this question. I am sure
it is something that is temporary.
Good Luck on your Lap Band.
Thanks, Sandy

Make sure you are sipping the water. See if tiny sips cause the problem.
If I take too large a drink, I sometimes hurt. You also might try drinking
something hot (hot tea or coffee or lemonade).

Where is the burning sensation occurring? Throat? Surgery site? I don't
understand why it would burn in the stomach area since the stomach was
never opened or anything. 'Better ask your Dr.
