Question:
Can anyone suggest a protein drink that tastes half way decent and doesn't cost alot?

I also had a problem with the taste of protein drinks after surgery. I saw that someone on here talked about a tasteless whey protein they could order online. Since I refused to pay all the money for "shipping and handling" I checked around town to see where I could buy it here. I found it at GNC, it's called Anywhey tasteless protein. It comes in a big container and it's total cost is $23. It really is tasteless, (has very little taste when added to drinks) but I put it in anything I drink, crystal light, light lemonade, water, tea, you name it. You can also add it to any foods hot or cold. I have tried smoothies, and found I can't stand them. Hope this helps Good luck!

If you or a friend belongs to Sam's Club or Costco, you can sometimes find some proteins there for pretty cheap. They both have the EAS powder - a 6 pound bag of powder for about $25ish in my area. I bought both the chocolate and the vanilla - I really like the chocolate just mixed with 1% milk. The vanilla is another story, but I've found I can mix it with orange juice to make something that tastes almost like a creamsicle - that's my every-few-days treat. Sam's also has cases of cans of the pre-mixed EAS chocolate, which are great for throwing in a lunch bag for work so there's no mixing. Beth Lap Band 5/24/07

I have to say that I had a huge problem with finding a decent tasting protein drink. Most of them made me sick to my stomach. I have recently tried a brand called Syntrax Nectar. It is very tolerable. If you go to Syntrax.com and contact them they will send you free samples that way you can try them without buying anything. they will also refund if you are not completely satisfied. Also, if you want a desert shake they have a cookies and cream that actually tastes like cookies and cream and you can't taste the whey protein. These are the best tasting I have tried. I have tried probably 20 different types even the tasteless that still has that whey taste. Good luck.

I did Isopure pre-surgery and found that I can't drink anything milk-based or milk tasting after surgery. I drink the Any Whey Tasteless Protein in Crystal Light. I've also heard of people putting it in soups and puddings. Word of warning, mix it into a thin gruel first if putting it into something hot, and put the gruel into the hot item. It curdles otherwise. I tried it in diet hot chocolate (which amazingly I can drink) and it was great. My other staple - every day protein is Nectar Roadside Lemonade - yummy! You can order samples on www.bariatriceating.com so you can try it before you buy. They have a lot of other fruit flavors that are great. My favorite is the lemonade. I buy it most times at the Vitamin Shoppe (where they have a replacement guarantee) or www.bariatriceating.com when I qualify for the free shipping.

I discovered that banana (real or artificial) takes the protein taste out of vanilla protein. It's still not fantastic but it helps. I did find a protein drink that is pretty good. It's not the best thing in the world but I think it's the most tastey and tolerable. It's Unjury Chicken Broth and can be ordered online at www.unjury.com. Good luck!

I love chocolate, so I buy slimfast low carb chocolate (20 g protein) drink & mix it with chocolate whey powder (23g). Sometimes I aslo add a packet of carnation instant breakfast (chocolats of course) 4g. Cold it tastes like a rich chocolate shake. YUMMY.

Any of these are what I use: 1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender or Magic Bullet). 2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken. 3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended. 4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz hot water, stirred or hand blender. Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon fights belly fat. I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of vit D3). they all work out to apxx $1 per 30g serving
