I don't have any problem eating sweets either. But remember what they said
about the surgery being just a tool. You need to curtail eating sweets and
work on getting protein and vitamins from vegatables. Are you giving
yourself enough time in between bites and chewing slowly so that you fill
up before eating too much.

Just because you CAN eat more doesn't mean you SHOULD eat more. Focus on
measuring and getting your fluids in. Exercise too, it will help with the
hunger, if you are having any. Go back to the basics. Eliminate the
sweets, they are probably one of the reasons that you needed the surgery

Typically, as more time passes following surgery your body will change and
no matter what you do you will sometimes start gaining weight, the same
things happened to me at about 20 months out. I'll be 6 years out in June.
A endoscopy last year showed an enlarged stoma so food just goes right on
through to the intestines, no slowdown to make me feel full. Another
possiblity is a staple line disruption, with food emptying into the old
stomach (if you weren't transected). Yes, what you do is important but
there can be things that go wrong down the road with the surgery. It can be
a surgery failure, not a patient failure. Two tests to check for problems
are an upper GI and endoscopy. Good luck!
