Mine is waiting to have the surgery!

I did my research so I did not have any surprises. I also knew plenty of
people who had the surgery so answers for questions were easy. But the
hardest part has been the different way I am treated by friends, co-workers
and such. Some is good and some not so good. It is like living as the
thin person that I never was with the same triumphs and pitfalls. Being
thin also hasn't solved any thing i.e. relationships and such. I also have
a hard time seeing the thin person in the mirror. I purchase the smaller
clothes and put them on but I still see the "fat" person. I have
not gone overboard with my weight loss. I lost 127 lbs. and I am 19 months
out and work on the person in the mirror every day. I was overweight for
37 years and it is not something that is going to disappear over night just
because I lost weight. I am aware of it and work at it everyday. That for
me has been the hardest part. I wish I could say that it has been the
surgery itself, recovery, eating, exercising because that has been easy
compared with the above. It isn't a bad thing just not as easily solved as
everything else.

The hardest part for me was finally agreeing to have the surgery. The
second hardest part has been to stay away from snacking.

rolling over in bed after the surgery (open RNY) -- but that only lasted a
day or two -- everything else was a piece of cake -- i had done a ton of
research and i read everything i could find -- i had no suprises -- GOOD
LUCK :)

The hardest part was drinking the stuff I had to drink to clean out my
system! Yuck! I had to drink some in the evening and again in the
morning, and it made me diarrheic, and I live over an hour from the
hospital!

Hi Nicole,
The hardest part for me, was the itching after surgery. I thought I was
going to scratch myself to death! I suppose it was the anesthesia. But it
only lasted a couple of days. And all is wonderful ever since. Best of luck
to you.

The hardest part for me was the nausea that I am still going thru (2 months
post op) and not being able to eat. Food was, more or less, my best friend
and now it's gone. I feel great otherwise!

The worst for me was coughing or sneezing after surgery. Boy, it hurt!
