Question:
5 yrs post-op, pregnant w/IUD, had hip replacement, tummy tuck and breast reduction

Okay ... I can't be the only person. I am 5 years post-op. I had a tummy tuck four years ago and a breast reduction three years ago. My hip replacement was 2 1/2 years ago and have known I've had a growing hernia for about a year. Well, 6 out of 1000 women get pregnant with an IUD ... and I am one of them. I thought I was done having kids. I had the IUD removed 10 days ago. I don't see the doctor again for another 10 days. As freaked as I was, I am finding myself getting excited. I just want to make sure I am doing the best I can for me and this little life growing inside my not so perfect body. Has anyone been pregnant with at least some of the above issues?    — whyamiawake (posted on August 21, 2006)

first and most importantly...good luck with the journey and congrats on the new baby coming into your world... I have seen it all it seems like it anyway. Keep your nutrition under complette control, suplimintation is the key...Do not rob your body of what could make you tired and have no energy... Nutrition... Have a great day and you are gonna be a mommy soon. Is this your first pregnacy after WLS. The hernia is a great question, if you are having a c section they posibly would be able to remove that, have you checked into that? Great success and do not let everything go undone you have worked so hard for... I keep my weight in control through the best nutrition and personal development! Great day... Celeste

21 years ago I had an IUD inserted and 3 weeks later was pregnant with my son. My husband was not excited or happy due to we already had a 1-1/2 yr old daughter and my health problems were mounting and was advised not to get pregnant until my health was better. I had not problems having the IUD taken out and baby was fine when delivered but almost died from high blood pressure when went into labor. He was vaginal birth though and not C-section. Congrats on you good news and wishing you well. Irish

Well I have some of the issues.. I am 3 years post op in October, and I have had a tummy tuck & pretty much my whole body tweaked in other areas (except my lower legs, lower arms, & face), and I am now 27 & 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was concerned because I JUST had my tummy tuck October 26 of 2005, and I was pregnant in February of 2006. So that was only 4 months before my body started STRETCHING AGAIN!!! Sometimes I feel like this baby is going to bust my skin open!! Thank God I have only gained 22/23 pounds so far. Let's see how the next 12 weeks go!!

Congratulations! I had two unplanned pregnancies, and love my kids more than life! You can choose to look on an unplanned pregancy as a curse or a blessing. Mine were blessings.
