Question:
I feel like food is in my throat. What is this?
For the past four days, I have felt like food is in my throat. I have tried to vomit and nothing comes out. Has anyone ever felt this and what should I do? — newbeginnings (posted on June 25, 2006)

that happens to me even now depending on what i ate ,,,it could
be that you are eating a bit too fast or maybe not cheweing
well enough this was what i was doing and i felt better instantly
after i threw it up......i decided i had better start slowing
down and chew well i didnt want to develop an eating disorder
with just throwing the food up because it could have been a bad
habit because when i did this it was instant relief...... try to
slow it down or chew better and see if this doesnt help
you.......im 2 years out and feel great check out my profile i
have some pictures on it.....hope to hear from you soon .....

go see your dr. I had this and it was reflux, and was getting damage to my
espophagus, had damage all the way up to my vocal cords, had to go on high
doses of Nexium to get it straightened out.

i agree with Patrizia.....probably eating too much too fast. I am learning
how to eat all over again and I have to admit that unless I am really
paying attention, I eat too fast and don't chew enough. It is also easy to
eat too much this way and eating out or with a group is still a challenge
for me.
Try eating slower and chewing longer and eating a little less and see
if that helps. If not, I'd call the Dr. and tell them what you are
experiencing.

there is a very good chance you have a stricture. there is no pain but
pressure at your stomach. If this continues you need to see your surgeon.

Don't let anyone scare you! Its most likely gas/air pressure. I had the
same thing, still do on occasion, its your body readjusting to certain
foods, and readjusting to the type of gas pressure they cause, its really
annoying but you can help it, simply take phayzme or mylanta gas gels, two
of them when you feel the pressure in your throat. If that doesn't work
then go see your doctor.

I also had this feeling...after talking to my doctor I was told to chew
better and slower...it really helped. Talk to your doctor, that always
helps me. Good luck

Eating too much or eating too fast does that to me. It is sometimes
difficult to separate head hunger and physical hunger.
