Question:
Will I hurt anything if I eat something and not chew it well?
I know it was wrong after I did it but now I want to know if I hurt something. I am supose to be on pureed only and I at 2 shrimp and didn't chew it very well I got really sick but I could not throw up just foam and pain lots of pain for about 10 minutes pain in the pouch and chest. I would like to know if you think I could have hurt something? — CindySue66 (posted on June 20, 2006)

You might have, but more likely it is just sitting in a large blob in your
pouch and will take a very long time to pass. Try sipping hot water and
make sure it is not lodged in your asophagus and has made it to your pouch.
If so, just be more careful next time. If you throw up the water or start
foaming again, call your Dr. right away. Live and learn.... Hugs from your
Okie friend..........

very important to know...
Yes I experianced that too...I had someone show me a very good tool to get
that right up! Rub on the back, get it up...
The best words of advise is... CHEW your food so good it is mush!
This is all a learning experiance...myself 4 years out... I some time
getthat same feeling! Never forget to chew. it is also important for
absorbtion...
Eat your protein first and learn your balance... Stop eating when full....
Get out of the obese mindset and get to that place of 'WHY" you had
the surgery.
Use the Tool, do not abuse the tool! :O)
Much luck!

I doubt you hurt anything. That is common. I did the same thing on a very
small piece of grilled chicken. But be sure you cut everything in tiny
pieces and use a seafood fork to eat with, put your fork down after eating
a bite and chew until nothing but mush and swallow before taking one other
bite.

Heh.. that foaming thing really sucks. I STILL foam occasionally if I dont
chew well enough. It most certainly reminds me to chew :D Good Tool!

Cindy, I never really "dumped" like most, on a regular basis, but
I did four times what "I" called dumping, and one of my worst was
eating three pieces of shrimp at a Chinese restaurant that I forgot to chew
properly. I thought I was going to die for 45 minutes, literally. I have
not gone there again (3 years out tomorrow). Chew chew chew, and when you
think you are done, chew chew chew. Even at 3 years out I still do that.
