Question:
Plastic surgery
I had my surgery 4 years ago and have been going up and down with my weight now for the past few months. I have asked a few questions on plateaus but have another question regarding plastic surgery. I am 26 years old and have not had any children yet and plan on having at least 2 within the next 5 years. But I have a very saggy stomach that stretches over by pelvic area and has been causing me to have problems with working out and getting a lot of rashes. Does anyone know if insurance would cover this and does anyone know of any good plastic surgeons in the Orange County, Inland Empire area? Thank you! — stillfighting (posted on March 21, 2006)

I know someone who was denied for plastic surgery becasue her sagging skin
wasn't giving her any rashes or problems, so I would guess that you would
qualify for plastic surgery.I remember her saying she had to stand up naked
and stretch her skin WAY out as far as it would go and they snapped pics to
send in to the insurance company. So, she went through that embarrassment
for nothing because she wasn't having any rashes. LOL she said she's good
in mind to take sand paper and MAKE rashes so she could have it! LOL Hugs
and Prayers! ~Melissa

I have the best gastric bypass surgeon in Orange County who also performs
the lower body lift. Insurance paid for the entire procedure and my copay
was $25. Check out Dr. Oliak's website at www.droliak.com. He's
associated with Chapman Medical Center. Please don't hesitate to email me
at [email protected] if you have any questions. He did a fabulous job on my
tummy and backside and outer thigh in one surgery.

Your insurance could pay for it if it is medically necessary. Make sure
that your doctor documents every little rash, etc on every visit. Good
luck

Laura, if it were ME, I would wait until you had the children you wanted to
have unless you feel you will have the finances to pay for a second one
later. If you have one now, most likely insurance will pay for it, but
having children will mess it up and you most likely will need another that
insurance will not cover. Talk it over with a plastic surgeon, they may
have other options for you.

If you lost at least 100 lbs and are having rashes, yes, insurance will
cover it........ how easily depends on your insurance carrier, but if they
say no, you can appeal and win. I dont know any in your area though,
sorry. kim
