Question:
anyone have medical metual (supermed)

Has anyone recently applied for medical Mutual (supermed) coverage and if so what was the outcome. What did you need to provide to them, how long did it take to hear back, and if you were denied what was the reason. Also, if you have any advice for me I would appreciate it. It's going to depend on your BMI, weight, previous diets, etc...I was 314 lbs. with a BMI of 48 with PCM / Medical Mutual. I went to the Barix Clinic in Columbus in July '05 for the initial consultation and was approved 6 weeks later. My surgery was September 23, 2005 and I'm down 76 lbs. Call the Barix Clinic-they will do 99% of the legwork for you with the insurance company. Best of luck to you!

I have Medical Mutual Super Med Plus and they approved on the first application. You do need a five year weight history from a doctor (medical proof of being more than 100 lbs overweight), a six month supervised diet, proof of medical necessity and a psych eval. Make sure your individual plan does not have an exclusion for WLS or they will not budge. They could not have been better with me and approved within two weeks of application. They were GREAT!
