Question:
Does anyone have the feeling of movement on the left side internally?
I am almost 3 weeks post RNY. It sometimes is a uncomfortable feeling, never "painful", just feels like pressure and like something is moving around in there. Has anyone ever experienced this? And if so.. when does it go away?? — sherifogelquist (posted on January 4, 2006)

It may be gas? Have you talked to your doctor. I have heard of people
haveing head hunger. I tasted the salt in pizza dough for some reason? Or
some have phantom pains. I would call and talk to a nurse to make sure
everything is ok I am sure it is just fine. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I had this for over a month after surgery. I'm pretty sure it wasn't gas,
and it was very uncomfortable. It was almost like my insides couldn't
figure out exactly where they were supposed to settle and it felt like they
were shifting around. I woke up one morning about 5 or 6 weeks after
surgery, and it was gone. In fact, it had been so uncomfortable that I sat
up in bed and basically announced to anyone that would listen that I
finally felt good!

I think it may be gas. Have you called your surgeon and asked them? I am
only one week and a few days post op, but I have this bubbly feeling
sometimes. I called and was told it was gas. But, to be on the safe side
call.

I have done research and when we have lap surgery, gas is pumped into our
body to make the surgery easier for the surgeon. I think it takes several
weeks to disipate after surgery and causes some pain.

I am three weeks post-op and I have this pain that comes once in awhile on
my left side at the base or just below the side ribs. It doesnt last but
less then a minute but it is a pain for me and otherwise it is okay. I
thought it was gas too but it isnt or nothing works. I also feel all kinds
of weird things when I eat something or drink something. Its like I can
feel everything making its way down. I just take it as my body getting used
to the things that have been done to it.
Good Luck, hope you feel better soon.

I am 2 1/2 weeks out RNY and I know exactly what you are talking about.
When I bent over, it felt like something was moving on my left side. It
felt like one of my organs didn't know where to go. It lasted for about a
week and now I don't feel it anymore. Give it time, hopefully it will
disappear soon.

You NEED to check this out NOW!!! I was 2 weeks post-op, and when I'd roll
over in bed, I felt movement under my L lung/near the ribs. It turned out
that I had FLUID AROUND MY LUNG and the LUNG HAD COLLAPSED!!! It was an
extreme emergency! You need to call your surgeon NOW and find out. Don't
mean to scare you, but this is very serious... I was hospitalized for 2
more weeks because of it!
