I have NOT experienced this at all, however, some have reported that spicy
foods (pepper, etc.) will cause that first few months post-op also
drinking fluids through a straw will also do that. Something your eating
or drinking may be causing it.. Ask your surgeon, his/her nurse or
dietitian, I'm sure they will help you.

Hi Patricia: I had this, too. It lasted for about 6 weeks maybe, and
gradually disappeared. I just chalked it up to the new eating style and
new plumbing. Good luck! Jaye Carl, RN, open proximal RNY 7-29-99, 102

Yes, this is esp. common with laproscopic proceedures, since I am told they
have to fill you with gas to use their equipment (you'd think they'd suck
it out when they were done, but I guess that's not covered by my HMO).
I am home 6 days now and still burp more than usual, but it feels so good.

I started belching when about one month before my surgery, when they said I
had the H-pylori bacteria. I cann't stand it!! Nothing helps. I'm 2 weeks
postop now and still belching so much it is almost making me sick.
