Question:
Hiatal Hernia removed and now its back

Tomorrow 4-20-2010 is my 1 yr anniversayr for RNY I have lost 123 lbs :) just found out Friday that my Hiatal Hernia that was removed same day as surgery is now back and needs removed again :( also had 6 staples removed that were still in place I have VERY weak muscles areound my stomach and they are going to place mesh to try and help out. Several years before RNY I had a diaphragmatic hernia where my stomach and spleen ended up in my thorax. First time it was repaired laparoscopically, but it only held a week and everything ended up back in my chest again. So they did open surgery to fix it. A year later they had to go back in again to repair an incisional hernia as a result. It's been almost 4 years since the incisional hernia repair, and everything has stayed put. I guess these digestive hernias can be tricky to get under control. I had lap RNY 5 months ago without any problems. Good luck to you; hopefully this will be the last time you have to have it repaired.
