Question:
Abscess
I was scheduled finally for December, 30 for the RNY. But with my luck had it postponed until a later date. Went to the ER the other week with abdominal area pain. Turned out to be an infected abscess. It is almost healed. But now am wondering how long I will have to wait to get a new date for the RNY. Been waiting 5 years. Every time I get near having it done, something (out of my control) delays it.Is there anyone out there who went or going through the same problems? I would appreciate hearing from you! Thanks! — SPIRIT2002 (posted on December 21, 2009)

Tim - I didn't have any problems before my surgery but just want to
encourage you to make sure you are healthy for the surgery. I know it
seems hard but you want everything to be perfect, including your health so
you don't have complications after surgery. There is a reason for
everything that happens, so as hard as it is, take it in stride and in the
end it will work out. Good luck!

With the delays I encountered, I only had to wait 1-1/2 years and felt the
wait was driving me nearly insane. I hope your abcess doesn't create a big
delay. Remember, squeaky wheels get fixed first. God bless.

I agree with Dawn. God has a plan for us and there is a reason for
everything including the 5yr wait. Just hang in there and get healthy and
try to lose as much wht as you can so when you have the surgery, you will
be well and will have less chance of complications. Best of luck to you. I
had my RNY on Nov 23. I had a few problems including a fungus infection in
the bend of my thigh and the 1st 2 days, I second guessed everything about
having the surgery but one mth out, and its the best thing that ever
happened to me. I have sooo many health problems and this surgery was the
last chance. I have hope for a future for the 1st time in 6 yrs. God Bless

UPDATE 3/9/10 :Well the abscess was almost healed, but it got reinfected!
Now its been over a month since it has completely healed! Have my big day
for RNY on March 31st! Any advice? Thanks to those who responded. I know to
bring slippers, a bathrobe, lip balm, a pillow. What else do you recommend?
Did anyone's left side & arm hurt afterwords? Thanks in advance!
