Hi Emma, stop beating yourself up! We all lose at a different rate. Going
slow is fine. I'm 16 months out and down 136lbs...but I didnt lose it all
at once. Some months I lose more than others. We didnt gain it over night
and when it comes of slow it is better for us. YOU keep up the protein, and
drink your water...you will get there...we all will have faith in yourself.

Be encouraged. I remember having the same conversion with my husband 4
months ago. I am now down 90 plus pounds. Make sure you get the protein in
and change your eating around and you should see the weight melt. We all
have had some type of stall.

Hi Emma ... believe me your not the only one who's going through this I am
as well. I had surgery Sept. 14 I was 289lbs the day of surgery as of today
I'm 265lbs. So I feel your pain I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong the
only thing we can do is keep trying. I don't tell anyone I had surgery
either because I haven't lost enough to do that yet. Sometimes to be honest
with you I don't feel like the Dr. did my surgery.

Look at it this way you're going to lose. That is guaranteed. The rate of
loss is what is questionable. I had RNY in July 2009, I am down about 60
pounds and it has been very slow. I went through about a month of no loss
at all. Still don't know why. Last week I even gained some ounces! Go
figure. The up side is that when you lose slow, it gives the skin time to
shrink as you reduce and therefore maybe less sagging. Hang in there. You
will make it to your goal.

I am a year out and have come to a stall. I have only lost about 85 to 90
pounds and have felt discouraged. I have just changed up some of the ways
I am eating and added some more exercise and hopefully will start dropping
again.

Talk with your surgeon and get his input.

I don't have an answer to your question but I feel your pain. I had my
surgery on 9/01 and have been stuck at the same weight for over a month
now. Things will turn arounf for the both of us keep up the good work.

I had VSG surgery on March 25,09 and I lost 12 lbs in the pre op diet and I
lost 10 the first week. Then everything slowed down for me too until I hit
about 2 months out. My body went into kind of a shock and my adrenal glands
went kinda crazy and hurt in my back similar to kindney pain. So I took
panothentic acid (which is one of the B vitamins) and it really helped.
Then I started exercising doing walk at home videos and some toneing with
some light weights and wow I started to see the lbs. come off and within
the next month I lost about 30 lbs. I have now lost 88 lbs total and feel
great. I did go through another platue were for 2 months struggled to get
down 10 lbs. then the next month with the next 10 lbs. I know I need to
workout more and really whatch what I eat. I have also found if I do not
drink enough fluids and flush out my weight loss stalls. I congratulate you
for losing the 23 lbs you have so far and encourage you to look forward to
the future and be ready because the best is yet to come. You seem
passionate about trying to do the right things and when you continue in
that you will see results. Sometimes our bodies have to heal (especially
right after surgery) and adjust to this great change that we are going
through. I am confident that you will do well and be successful. God bless
you.

I had RNY bypass 8/11/09 starting weight 261. The first 2 weeks I lost only
10lbs on the liquid diet. The doctor told me that was good and to make sure
I get the protein in first (I was devastated). One month later I was only
down 20lbs. Today I am down 41 lbs, I think it's slow but I am losing. I
make sure I eat enough protein, drink water, and exercise that is the key.
I've learned that there is no short cut to losing weight. Today I can eat
anything with no side affects, granted my portions are much smaller but you
still have to put in the work. I'm feeling better and at 219lbs am
encouraged to continue. I hope you will be too!!!! Please continue to post
your progress(You see I said PROGRESS!!!) No failures here!!

Goshyou sound just like me, my nut told me I was too hard on myself, but
she did tell me that I should cut out the beans. I have lost 64 lbs, and
my surgery was on August 13, 2009. I also have to walk more, which I am
doing, the weight is coming off again. Love yourself, I know it is hard
not to be so self critical.

Ya know, I think I am losing weight slow as well but I am not causing
myself any mental stress over it. I know I should get into an exercise
ritual but I haven't. I had surgery on 9/28/09 and have lost a total of 41
lbs if you include the self imposed liquid diet that I did 2weeks post op.
But I know that I have lost a grip of inches to the point I am going to
start logging my inches as well. I have decided to do my own scientific
research on myself to see how well the weight come off and just enjoy
myself. I started out the day of surgery weighing 273 and this morning I
weighed in at 243.8 so I rounded that up to 244. I have been trying to up
my protein intake a little more to see if that really does make a
difference so I guess it really does because the scale is moving again. So
don't give up hope just ignore it and focus on life itself. Good luck and
be encouraged!
