If the hernia is growing then she needs to see a surgeon as soon as she can
to have it repaired. It will only continue to get worse. I waited for 2
1/2 years and ended up with huge problems. Although my hernia started as
an incisional hernia (at the site of my open rny) it progressively grew
much. I was tired all the time and always uncomfortable.
I had a general surgeon who specializes in bariatrics do the repair(s).
I'm only 3 weeks out from the repair surgery and feeling so much better -
my digestive system is working again and I don't hurt from the hernia! My
surgeon said it was the largest hernia repair he's ever done...and it was
actually 2 hernias. Right center (by my original incision site) my
intestines has herniated with my liver herniated behind it - and on my left
upper abdomen area my liver had herniated with my intestines herniated
behind it. It's not a fun, pain-free surgery but I'm so glad I finally had
it repaired.
Sorry for being so lengthy but I wanted to encourage her to have it checked
and taken care of sooner rather than later. It WILL NOT get better on it's
own. Good luck!

She needs to get to her doctor asap! This is not normal and with the
factor of being sick, that emphasizes that it's not ok! If there is
infection then it is constantly dumping into her system and can only get
worse. Please have her seen/treated immediately.
