Question:
cardiologist
Who has the final say for surgery? I am waiting for my cardiologist to say I am fit for surgery which he has done but the letter he wrote to my surgeon is not ready yet. I need this letter by Friday so I can get my surgery date. So to say the least I am stressing because I don't have it yet. The nurse at the hospital said not to worry about it because the surgeon doesn't have the final say she said the medical clearance doctor does and she has cleared me for surgery. Anyone had this problem. I hope she's right. — cuppaloopy (posted on September 9, 2009)

Hi Barb,
I had to have clearance from my cardiologist before I had my surgery. They
also told me the same thing that I was approved but two days before my
surgery my doctors office called and said that they did not have the final
approval letter from the cardiologist and that I needed that before they
would do the surgery. I would call your cardiologist and tell them you need
the letter ASAP and can they fax it over to your surgeons office. Good
Luck!!!

I am also in the process of getting all of my clearances. I have all of
them except my nutrition, but my last appointment is in two weeks. Anyway,
I got my cardiac clearance over 2 weeks ago and the doctor's office says
they still haven't received any of my clearances. So I went around to all
of the doctors offices and picked up the clearances and delivered them to
the doctor myself. That way there is no question whether or not they
received them. Well good luck and I hope everything goes well.
