Question:
I am 2months out and I am having problems keeping any solid food down.

Thre weeks ago my doctor did a endoscopy and said my passage way was 8mm and opened it up to 10mm. He said that I should be able to start on solids in a week but still cannot. He wants to do another endoscopy in a few days to see where I am now. Has anyone else had this experience? Also my wait loss has been good I feel great besides this going on. I have lost 55lbs. Please help me!    — dfmommom (posted on August 5, 2009)

Hi Diane, I had my RNY ayr ago. Have had 6 EGD's, each time they have had to re-open-strech the opening. My Dr started having me go back shortly after he did the EGD and that is how they got mine to stay open. I was the first person my DR had trbl with but I have meet others at my meetings that have had the same trbl. It WAS NOT his(my DRs)fault...it is my own bodies for the way it wanted to heal. I am doing fine now..just follow thru and do as the DR tells you to and you will do fine. keep up the good work with the weightloss!

I had 2 sons that had the same surgery (not related to RNY) Both of my sons reacted to the surgery in different ways. Kevin, my youngest son, his body kept trying to heal itself and close the openings that the surgeons had made. It was a complication for him. (He was an infant). He also had tubes put in his ears when he was older, but his body just pushed the tubes out and closed up the openings. So perhaps you will have to continue your EGD's until your body accepts the changes that are taking place. Good luck!

I am 6 years post RNY and had bad persistent nausea and vomiting during the first 6 months, even the first year. It didn't get better with stretching of the pouch outlet several times. However, much of it got better over time and when I accepted that some of the food intolerances that I developed seemed permanent for me. I'm ok with it now, except that I still vomit if I try to eat a bite or two of pizza, that I hate. I hope she feels better soon. Best to you.
