Question:
Time release
I'm over two years post-op LAP/RNY. Can I ever again take time release tablets? — Muggs (posted on August 4, 2009)

My doctor told me that as soon as you can take a solid pill you can return
to your time released pills. I have been taking mine since three weeks
post op. Call you doctor and ask if you are still unsure.

Hi Maureen.... I was told "NO".

I was told "no" also, as the pill does not stay in your pouch
long enough in order to release the meds.

I had my knee replaced in February of 2009, after having had RNY the
previous August. The time release pills did almost nothing to help me.
Hope this helps.

Personally, I have had a lot of trouble with medications and absorbtions,
anything I can get liquid or chewable I do, time released is a waste. The
part of the intestine that would deal with that is gone. Sorry to your Doc
to over ride him on that one. If it is something you can break in two, take
it in two portions twice a day. Is this doc, your Pcp or your bariatrician?
Remember most doctors other than your bariatrician don't know what to do
with a weight loss patient, I found that out the hard way. Good luck. LL

I was told no by my bariatric surgeon.

Lesleigh - I agree with your post, especially the last part. There are more
doctors who do not know what to do with a weight-loss surgery patient,
which worries me if I have to go to the E R. ( By the way, I like the way
you spell your name!)
