Question:
B-12 Vitamin
When reading the bottle of my B-12 it says to take one each day. Does anyone know why most Drs, say only once a week? — bigrigs01 (posted on July 13, 2009)

Your b12 level may be too high. Have you had it checked?

I called my doctors office to be sure, she said to take one 500mcg daily.
But if your dose that you take is 1000mcg then every other day is fine,
plus if you take Centrum A-Z that is fine too. I can speak for other drs,
that is something that should be taken sublingual, where it isn't absorbed
through your stomach but under your tongue. When you say most dr's are you
referring to primary care physician or the doctor that did your surgery?
That could be the difference pcp docs don't know much about bypass
patients. hope this helps

I take mine once a day under my tongue. I used to give myself a B-23 shot
once a month also.. My levels were always fine.

My surgeon says one 1000 mcg per day, sub-lingually. Also, after my first
labs came in, the PA recommended extra D for 6 weeks.

My surgeon had me get the B-12 Sublingual (Solaray brand) at Super
Supplements - they are 2000 mcg, and you take one a week. My B-12 levels
have remained in normal range.
