Question:
Protein Shot!!
Ok, so we all know how nasty some of our protein shakes can be, right? Well, last week I was browsing bariatriceating.com and noticed some 3 oz. protein shots as noted in a previous post. It's a 6 bottle box and it was $25. The 6 bottles each contain 45g of the 65g of daily protein needed. I think it's a great idea. So, they come in the mail yesterday. My first reaction was excitement. I opened one and it's awfully thick and I put a taste to my lip and YUCK!!! I thought maybe they'd be better. I refrigerated them overnight thinking they'd be better cold. This morning I decided to mix half of 1 shot (22g) with a bit of water and chug it. OMG!! I only got half way through 1 chug and nearly threw it back up. Since when did my gag reflexes become so strong? Ok, so I continued to look at the rest and tell myself, "Self, you have chugged way worse than this back in the day. I mean, 4 horsemans, kamakazis, jager-bombs, red-headed sluts, Alabama slammers? YOU can do this!" I managed to get it down and keep it down, but I wasn't happy. This afternoon I'm trying it in a Yoplait Light Smoothie. It's not too bad. Any other ideas on mixing? In the soft food catagory I mixed 1 scoop of Nectar Strawberry Kiwi with 1
serving of Kroger CARBmaster yogurt for a 35gm protein total that tastes
good. That won't help much when your on liquid only but an idea that
hopefully can be helpful. Kevin

I used one shot in 32 oz of water. That was the only way to get past the
thickness.

I'm not sure if it's the same product you bought, but I get the New Whey
Protein Bullets which come in Orange, Grape and Fruit Punch flavors. They
are also thick and strong tasting. However, I love Orange Zinger Herbal
Tea, and BOTH the Orange and Fruit Punch flavors of the bullets go well in
the tea. They also go well in a bottle of Crystal Light. Or, you can use
them refrigerated for part of the cold water to make jello. Even if it's
not the same product, you might try some of these solutions. I wish you
luck!
