Question:
I just found out that I have osteopenia and am vitamin D Deficient.

Your docs will probably want to start you on Vitamin D supplements and treat the osteopenia. Having the surgery will depend on your doc and your responses to the treatments is my educated guess. Hope this helped you. vinnigirl, retired RN

I also had a vitamin D deficiency and was put on Caltrate D prior to surgery. The surgeon took me off of it as soon as I had the RNY. Seems to be fine now.

You should ask your surgeon. It will be him who decides what to do. Good luck.
