I seen the dietician yesterday, and she said by time I am 8 weeks out from
my surgery my pouch will hold about 6 oz. You are about 6 weeks out maybe
this is what is happening.

Some docs do a smaller pouch and other do it larger. I can eat 4 ounces
unless it is slider food like Peaches, Ocra, salads, etc.

I too eat a little more than 4 ounces and I KNOW my pouch is bigger. The
surgeon told me he made the pouch a little bigger because of the daily
pills I still have to take.

It also depends upon what surgery you had. I had Lapband surgery and I can
eat about 6-8 oz. I had lapband surgery on 3/19/08. Karen

Sarah, we are obese because we learn the art of being able to stuff more
than we should into ourselves. Please know that just because you CAN eat
something, doesn't mean you HAVE to eat something. We make choices, and
wls is just a tool, choose to use the tool and walk away from stuff when
you are past your boundaries of eating. This is all about choice, make
good ones and get good results, make bad ones, and wls won't work for you
as well. Patricia P.

It could be the size of your pouch or the type of food your are eating. It
is very important that you measure out the amount of food suggested by your
nutritionist and stop when that is gone! You probably won't have that
bloated fullness that so many are used to pre-op, but you should be
satisfied... especially if you are eating slow and focusing on what you are
eating.

As long as you are losing weight still, then maybe this is normal for
you...Just eat til you are satisfied and don't worry so much about how much
you are eating. (Unless it is sugar carbs or fats) Watch those! Don't
allow yourself to eat til full. eventually you should be able to consume a
small meal like a small sized person eats with no trouble. (7-10 ounces)
Just make good choices and get in your exercise and you should do just
fine! Good luck!

I agree that it is probably the type of food you are eating that makes you
think your pouch is bigger. I thought the same thing whn I first had
surgery. When I was able to eat more solid foods, it became evident that I
was eating a lot less than I was when I was eating yougurt or pudding
during the first couple phases. Use a chicken breast as an example. I
think most boneless chicken breasts are around 6 oz. Can you eat the whole
thing? I can't (after 5 months). I can eat about half. Then I leave room
for some veggies or salad. So...really look at what you are eating. If it
is a "slider" food, you have to know when to stop, since you
won't have that fullness feeling like you do with solids.
Blessings!

Over how much time? Are you drinking with meals? For us, back in the dark
ages, we did only one oz meals. 4-6 per day, drink up to first bite, not
for an hour after. But then, we were told to stop at first full feeling,
not wait for it to pass and then finish the portion. So, while ours seems
radical to some, the object was to keep the pouch as original as possible
until goal wt. So, you may be following your directions by sitting there
for 45 minutes to get in that 4 oz. So much depends on what you were told.
So, one way is not right or wrong, sometimes another way just works
better.
