I had this similiar thing happen to me. After several months of test and
removal of my gallbladder I was still having pain. After several more tests
they determined it was my esophagus causing the pain. Maybe have her ask
the doctor about this. Hope I can help...

Did this 15 year old have gastric bypass???? If she did the parents should
be put away. No 15 year old should have any kind of surgery for gastric
bypass or the band. Thats ridiculous. She should be outside excercising and
playing or walking. How sad.

I get pains in my ribs, sometimes sharp pains that don't allow a deep
breath. I had it for years, and at one point last year I was feeling it in
the left upper chest and went to the hospital fearing a heart attack. It
turned out to be costochondritis (sp?)...an inflammation of the connective
tissues between the ribs and in the chest wall. Another possibility...I
saw "Mystery Diagnosis" last night and it was about a girl with
terrible pain similar to gallbladder, and it turned out to be the
sphincter/valve whose job it was to release bile into the intestines. It
was too tight and pressure would build up in the gallbladder. But there
were no stones when they did the tests. Good luck finding out what is
causing this!

Bagels are certainly not the best for her. Really bread in any form. Swells
up in your stomach. What kind of surgery? Has the mother spoken to the dr?
When did she have it done???

My wife had the same thing happen. She was hospitalized to do CT scans,
blood work, they ran the scope down her throat, x-rays and a HIDA scan
which on showed her gallbladder working 37%. They took hers out and now
she can eat again. But everything else showed ok. Go to a
gastrointerologist and don't stop til they tell you something. My wife
would be having a fit she is very protective of the children and she gets
very persistant and rud when needed if she thinks someone is harming or not
taking something with their health seriously. Just keep complaining you
know your daughter.

Her blood tests may not show her gallbladder, but if she isn't able to eat
I'm concerned about that.
Her upper right quad only has her liver, gallbladder, and the bile duct
connecting the two. Other then the ribs and such that shouldn't be causing
food issues.
You didn't mention sugery so I will jump on a limb that she didn't have
surgery, but she isn't feeling well and you thought you'd venture out here
for a sugguestion. Or...I'm hoping.
I had my gallbladder out at 18. I only had symptoms for 3 months and didn't
have stones but was told that once I started vomiting green bile and having
sharp pain on the right side under my breast that went under my shoulder it
wouldn't be long to develop a stone. Once I had that sucker out and took a
day or two to heal I felt like a million bucks.
Did they run a liver function test? That's a blood level. How about an
ultrasound of her liver and gall bladder? She's too young for this. I also
agree that Bagles are probably not great get as much protein in her as
possible. Regardless of surgery or not her body needs the protein.
