Question:
Anyone experience back pain, post op?
I am 9 weeks post op and I have been having a lot of back pain the last couple of weeks. I did not have back pain prior to surgery. It is really starting to be disruptive to my daily routine. Has anyone else experienced back pain, post op? Does anyone know the cause? — jewels-okla (posted on January 28, 2008)

That's how my gallbladder trouble started. Right in my back about where my
bra fastened. I had been on a liquid fast in Seattle and this was the
result. Hugs! Wanda

I was told it was normal, Just think we had all this weight around on
middle and our backs had to support it and now we are using the muscle in
our backs as we walk and exercise, mine act up ever so often i take heating
pad or hot relaxing tub bath to let the muscle relax.

I had pre and post-op. The bottom line for me was my kidneys were over
stimulated. Mass fluids and high protein = kidneys working overtime. It
will calm down after a bit. But always check with your PCP, just in case.

I never had back problems prior to losing weight. About 3 weeks ago I woke
up to not being ablet o pivot my right foot and it just tingles. I did an
MRI and they say it is a ruptured disc. I never picked up on anything heavy
or done anything I was not supposed to. But it is a ruptured disc. I hope
it all works out with out having to have surgery. I want to walk normal
now that I lost all this week. I am 7 1/2 months out and lost 135 lbs.
From a size 22 to a 4. I also need to stop losing weight. I have really
lost about 20 lbs more than I wanted to.

Hello, I have had back pain (around the bra line) for 3-4 months. I was
told it was the change in my center of gravity due to weight loss. It used
to be daily and start afterlunch. I thought it was that I was over worked
and over stressed becaused it would diminish after I got home from work.
Any way if it was the same pain I had, it is normal.

I also had this. My pain was in my lower back and it would radiate to my
leg. I did have rouble before surgery but odly it got worse after I lost
the weight. I went to an orthopedic doctor and they said that even though
you loose the weight you can still feel the side effects of when you were
heavy because when you were heavy you probably had it just the same but had
extra insulation so to speak to cushin it. If you look up core exersises
there are some good things you can do that will soften the blow. Feel
better!!! :)

Everytime I drop a great deal of weight, I can tell as my lower back has a
dull pain. I am lucky that I can usually take some tylenol and it goes
away. This happens for about 2 days. It is normal as we have to
re-strengthen our back muscles after losing weight as they are not used to
holding less weight. Good luck and God bless.
