Question:
2 weeks post op...Food question
I'm here again! While reviewing my Dr's list of things I can eat during my first four weeks, it says (liquids) chicken noodle soup, tomato soup, etc. Are we to be concerned not only about sugar content, but sodium as well? Can you all provide suggestions of what I can eat, liquid wise, soups, etc? THANKS! — 1fatgurl (posted on September 18, 2007)

My doctor's only requirement was that all the soups were blended first and
try to keep protein at about 45gms per day. He did not mention the others
such as sodium etc. I am three weeks out.

First of all, what little you can eat won't be the amount of sodium listed
on the label you will be consuming. 2nd, you are to be drinking a lot of
water, which will knock the sodium out. Soups, just remember to strain the
noodles, sugar free jello, protein drinks, no sugar added tea's, crystal
light -- just a few of the things I remember. Good luck and God Bless!

I did a lot of cream of tomato soup. I liked campbells cream of tomato
"soup on hand"(I think thats what is was called the one in the
already mircrowaveable dish)

My list included sugar-free Jello & pudding. (add some unflavored
protein power in the pudding, blended cottage cheese, low carb yoguart,
bullion, decafe tea, and allot of water and protein drinks. Good Luck -

I am 2 weeks post-op. After week one my doctor had me eating soft mushy
foods...mashed poatatoes, applesauce, squash, yougurt, cottage cheese, etc.
Just remember to keep it low fat and no sugar added.

I was given a reciepe for Campbells soup using theirs soups that are 95 %
fat free or something and 45% low sodium. There are several flavors by
campbell. Anyway blend in one cup of low fat cottage cheese in the blender
and it is a great soup with low or no sugar and high protein. Good luck.

Unless you have a REAL concern with high blood pressure, sodium is not a
concern. Especially as someone mentioned, you won't be eating (drinking)
that much. Mainly worry about getting in your protein and liquids. Nector
(Syntex) has wonderful protein powders. My favorite being Cappacino Latte.
If you love coffee this is great. You can get it at Bariatriceating.com
or the Vitamin Shoppe here has it now. Good Luck!
