Question:
How do you get all of your protein in?
I cannot stand the Protein supplement, I have Unjury and have tried BOOST-Glucose. The only way I am getting it in is through CIB-Choc. I get nauseated when I put in it yogurt, soup, sugar free beverage. I also CANNOT tolerate the "canned cream low fat soups". Suggestions? Hi, I have found these Protein Bullets, they are in liquid form and about
3oz. has 42 grams of protein. I take one ounce and mix it with 4oz water,
Drinking that throughout the day gets a great deal of my quota
accomplished. It comes in grape, orange and fruite punch. I found mine at
The Vitamin Shoppe.

I am drinking the Atkins Advantage high protein shake.. It is 1 gram of
sugar.Protein is 15 gram and it come in choc., Vanilla, strawberry, and I
buy them at Walmart... They run about 5.99 for 4.. I have one everyday in
the morning...

I too cannot stand the Protein powder. I have switched to Carnation
Instant Breakfast which is far more tolerable and 15 g of protein. I
cannot find the SF but I know it is available in the states. I also
started on egg and cottage cheese 10 days out. I just chew really well and
seem to have no problem. Good luck, trust me it does get better but the
first week is yeck......

You should be able to tolerate runny instant mashed potato's with a slice
of cheese melted in with them. OR go to KFC and buy some of their gravy and
instant mashed potato's. Best of luck to you!! Mickey.....

I'm a month out and I cannot tolerate the protein bullets (even mixed with
SF Crystal Lite), protein shakes or protein powders in any form. I get my
protein by eating eggbeaters, string cheese, FF cottage cheese, low fat
yogurt and SF FF pudding made with lactaid (lactose-free skim milk). It may
be a bit early for you to try these but maybe you will be able to get them
down next week. Sorry you are having such a rough time. I can totally

I agree, the Unjury is pretty bad. When I was first post op I liked the
whey protein from a company called All The Whey. You can buy it in small
containers or get samples. It was good. Now I like Walker whey protein
(vitacost.com) and I also used their Extreme Smoothies which are ready to
drink. I also like EAS and Myoplex ready to drink. The mashed potatoes
are carbs and probably not a good idea as you need to concentrate on
protein. My nutritionist is not a big fan of the protein bullets as the
contents are not ideal so I'd stay away from them. Try mixing the whey
protein with skim milk or unsweetened soy milk. If that doesn't work try
with water. I like to add ice and fresh fruit and a little of the danon
lite and fit yogurt, yummy!

Hi Folks: I swear by the Revival Soy protein shakes. They don't have that
weird "soy aftertaste", are not chalky, and are easy to use -
just empty the premeasured envelope into a shaker cup and go! You can get
samples for $15, which is fully refundable if you are not 100% satisfied.
And no, I'm not a distributor or anything - just a long-term post-op who
FINALLY found a shake that I can tolerate! I also swear by their protein
chips (I like the "lightly salted sunshine") to supplement my
protein and satisfy that "crunch" craving.

I know exactly what you mean by not feeling like you can get all your
protein in. I am 10 weeks post op and I still struggle to get it in. I
have found something that has helped me a lot. It is at GNC and made by
Pro Preformance....it is 100% Whey Protein Powder. I like the Chocolate
Caramel flavor. I mix one scoop w/8oz. of fat free milk and throw in half
a banana and some ice into the blender. It is soooo good! Only thing that
has really tasted good to me. Good Luck! It WILL get better...

Girl, can I empathize with you on the protein. I have tried just about
everything and I can't stomach most of it like some people can. I like the
powder protein (chocolate and vanilla) but I get tired of mixing, or
remembering to mix. The only thing I really, really like (my opinion) is
the ready mix Extreme Smoothie from VHT (I buy on-line) in cans. 35 grams
of protein and only 6 grams of carbs. Tastes like Slim Fast (if you like
those, which I do) without all the sugar. Good Luck!!!!!

I like Dr. Atkins as well and I also like Isopure Zero Carb Protein drinks.
You can purchase these at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. I go to the Vitamin
Shoppe because you can purchase a case any day of the month for $35; but
you can only get a case for this price at GNC for the first 10 days of the
month so don't waste your time buying a GNC Gold Card.
With the protein drinks, you can mix them with water. I love the Apple
Melon, Grape Frost, and Alpine Punch. The orange was horrible and I
haven't tried any of the others. What I did was purchase individual
bottles and then decided on which ones I liked. You don't have to buy one
flavor, you can mix the case.

I'm thinking the only real protein you've tried is the Unjury, prolly made
with milk? The others are meal subs and not high protein. You might want
to go back to whey powders, made up with water. THey come in literally
hundreds of flavors, thicker, thinner, sweeter, not so sweet. My
preferences are here:
1.) Champion ProScore 100 choco + 8 oz water + ice, blended (hand blender
or Magic Bullet).
2.) Champion Pure Whey Stack choco + 6-8 oz water, shaken.
3.) IDS vanilla-cinnamon + "glop" of DaVinci sugar free caramel
sauce + 8 oz water + ice, blended.
4.) the PWS chco + the van-cin (50/50) in about 10 oz hot water, stirred or
hand blender.
Lately I've been adding a shake of cinnamon to my hot ones since cinnamon
fights belly fat.
I always put 1 scoop of UpCal D powder in (500mg calcium citrate, 250 IU of
vit D3).

I was the same way. I had a hard time getting my protein in and could no
longer stand the protein drinks. I switched to SF Carnation Instant
Breakfast which taste better, but then I added a scoop of the tasteless
Whey protein into the drink as well to increase the protein to a total of
35grams for my 8oz drink.

I feel for you! I have had the same problem. I tried them all but was
allergic to most everything. Then I tried EAS Advantage. It has 17 grams of
protein and you can mix it half and half with milk (though you dont have
to). It comes in French Vanilla (my favorite) Chocolate Fudge and
Strawberry Creme. If you put them in a blender with ice and milk, I swear,
it tastes like a milkshake. The best thing is there is no funky smell or
aftertaste. You can get the shakes at Wal-Mart. They are four for $5.97 (at
least at my Wal-Mart). Try these, I really think you will like them and be
able to tolerate them. Good luck!

Debby, The canned soup made me nauseated too. I couldn't tolerate ANY of
the protein supplements right after surgery. I got my protein from yogurt
(fat free), skim milk, fat free sour cream, sugar free jello, protein bread
(toasted), egg whites and fat free cheeses. I was and still am unable to
tolerate fats. Try a fat free non-cream soup and see how you do with it.

Hi! I have my surgery scheduled for next week and so I stopped at GNC
today. I found '50 Grand Slam' it has a variety of flavors, 50 grams of
protein and only 3 grams of sugar. Also, my dietician told me to try
'Isopure' also at GNC. It has 40 grams of protein and 3 grams of sugar.
They are both around $3.75 a bottle here and both are liquids. Hope that
helps a little bit!

sometimes protein is hidden in other foods. Go to the internet and google
foods with protein and you may be surprised. I also eat the Special K bars
or the South Beach bars - each being 10-19 grams of protein. I haven't
tried the Instant breakfast, but I'm sure its good. My friend eats a meal
replacement bar called something like "Yea or Yeh" which she
finds at the Vitamin Shop - they have like 40 grams. Good luck

Hi. I understand completely. My taste buds were so off after surgery that
I hated the taste of just about everything. Don't despair. If you can
tolerate milk, just mix it in milk and sip on it. The colder the better,
so add ice cubes to your drink while you're sipping. I'm 18 months out
from surgery. I drink Unjury but I only mix it with milk. CIB is too
sweet for me. My trick is that I stir in one scoop in about 6-8 oz of milk
(you will probably only be able to handle up to 4 oz still). Let it sit
for one to two minutes. Stir it up again, and then its smooth and not
gritty. It's much better to. Another trick is that I mix and have
one-half a scoop of the chocolate Unjury and one-half a scoop of the
unflavored. It's not as sweet then. I also use the bullet drink that
another person told you about. It's very good too. Please don't give up
on your protein drinks. They are very important for your health.

I cannot deal with the taste of soy based protein mixes/products. I have
found whey protein is much more palatable (tho still not anything I'm
excited to be drinking).
You can make enriched milk by either using regular milk and mixing in a
package of non-fat dried milk or just use the dry powder but cut the water
in half. I can't drink this plain (can't drink regular milk plain either)
but it works great mixed with SF CIB.

I am 2 weeks out and also had problems getting my protein intake. Isoprue
Protein Water was recommened by my dietician. I love it. It has 40 grams of
protein in each 20 oz. bottle. It helps you to get in your water and
protein intake. It comes in several flavors, zero carbs and sweetened with
splenda. I'm sure you'll like.
