Question:
Dr.Mora and BCBS of Alabama
My first appointment is on July 11, 2007 with Dr. Mora in Prattville Alabama. I am wondering how long it took for someone to get their surgery scheduled with this doctor. I have BCBS of Alabama. — mandi82980 (posted on June 25, 2007)

Hey Amanda,
I live in Michigan and each state is different. It has taken me eight
months to get everything done. but the norm as the nurses tell me is about
3-6 months. Some Doctors make you go through a two week to three month
weight loss program. Some don't . I had a previous stomach surgery so mine
was a little more complicated. I wish you luck, just ask your Doctor's
office and they should be able to answer your question. Lori G

Amanda, I had RNY surgery on Sept 9. 2003 and Dr. Mora was my surgeon! I
know the "rules" have changed since then, but I'm sure you will
be approved as quickly as possible! Probably in 1-2 months unless you have
to go through a WLprogram ! He is such a sweet and caring Dr. and he Is
good! I've kept my weight off for almost 4yrs.! Ilost over 100 lbs. and
have had abdominplasty ! Nancy Scott

Hey Amanda: I had weight loss surgery on 4June04. I did not have to go
through a psychological evaluation or a sleep study because I had already
been through both ( am BiPolar & have sleep apnea). Therefore, once I
saw my surgeon, Dr. Rex Sherer in Alabaster, AL, my surgery was approved in
one week!!! I know this is extremely uncommon, but thought this would give
you some hope. I had really prayed about the Lord taking care of the
surgery and everything that went with it and he did. Good luck & God
Bless...Judy
