Question:
sore ankle
Not weight loss related.. What would cause my right ankle to be really stiff and sore when I wake up in the morning? I can barely walk on it. It gets better after an hour or so. Laurie — LaurieH (posted on July 17, 2006)

I'm having that same pain in my ankle/heel and it gets better as the
morning goes on. However, I sometimes get it in the evening when I get up
from the sofa to go to bed or just get up and walk around for a minute. My
ortho thinks it's related to my knees bothering me, however, since I've
been going to physical therapy for that -- I don't think the two are
related. Either foot doctor or orthopedist. I'm going to the orthopedist
first because some insurance companies give you a hard time with foot
doctors.

Sounds like arthritis to me but I am not a dr so get it checked out. Bone
spurs yes it could be also or gout. In reading posts a lot of folks have
said they have these problems with their feet hurting and their knees and
when a person has been over wieght a great deal of time they develop
arthritis and don't realize that could be the problem and after losing a
lot of weight it hits them again. See your dr and see what tests he can run
to get to the problem. Taking tylenol helps with the pain but NSAIDS I
can't take. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and when a flare up hits me noting
helps but darvocet for pain.....Irish

Have you been sleeping with your foot/ankle out of the covers and maybe
catching a draft? that would make it stiff in the morning, but get better
as you use it.
