Question:
Has anyone had experience with BCBS of AL PPO?

HI I am from Alabama and I have BCBS Federal and they weren't hard to deal with at all. As for BCBS of AL PPO from what I have read about people on this web site, I haven't seen anyone have trouble with them either. Look on the homepage under "Insurance" and click on "my insurer" and you can read about other people who have the same insurance as u and that will give you some sort of idea... My husband had this insurance with his job and they wouldn't approve the surgery. I since changed jobs and my insurance BC/BS of Rhode Island paid 100%.

I have BCBS PPO and was approved within 1 week for gastric bypass surgery. I called the insurance company just to see if they received all the paperwork and it has only been one week and they told me I was already approved. I did the 6 month "diet" with my primary care provider and that information was given to them also. I had my surgery 1/30/06 and have lost 76 pounds. Good Luck.

I have BCBS of PA and they approved me on the first attempt without any problems and did not require the 6 month diet. I remember reading about another member here though on BCBS of AL and she had the worst trouble trying to get them to pay. She even ended up starting a law suit against them which is still in progress. I remember that because I remember thinking how easy it was with PA versus AL. Good Luck!!
