Yeah I had little pain, walked immediatedly after getting back to my room
from recovery, kinda amazed the nurses. Asked to go home early they insited
I remain, surgery monday am got out wednesday am. walked every day by the
following monday I walked over a mile/ Consider yourself one of the
fortunate and dont overdo it. My wifes a RN and reports she sees 70 year
olds seemingly uneffected by surgery bouncing around the hospital while 20
year olds lie in bed devastated. its very individual..

I agree w/ bob it is very individual...i think it has alot to do with ones
pain tolerence as well. I had open RNY was off pain meds by the 2nd day and
doing laps around the hospital wing :) My doctor was also amazed at my
recovery, i had slight gas the first 2 days, but nothing devastating (no
medicine to relieve it or anything) I am almost 1 month post-op and doing
very well, with no pain or side effects so far (knock on wood) i am
walking, drinking lots of fluids and getting in 60-80 grams of protein per
day without any type of protein shakes (which basically means i eat about 6
oz 3 X's per day) and that works for me....good luck~you are doing
wonderfully (i think alot of people would wish for the type of recovery we
have had / fast & little pain!!!!) Best wishes on the remainder of your
journey :) SMILES

I had Lap RNY 4/24 and I didn't have pain either. It felt like I had done
sit ups. I didn't require any pain meds. I am home and feel pretty good
walking and drinking lots of water and my protein shakes, but I have to
admit I'm looking forward to eating, the only drinking is getting plaid
out, but I will continue to do exactly what I'm supposed to do.

I also had very little pain.....for a couple of days I even questioned if
the doctor had really done the surgery....it was very strange, but I'm not
complaining. LAP RNY 12-22-06

When I had surgery, I went back to work in a week and felt great. . .I
didn't really have any pain, I just felt like I had done a lot of sit-ups.
Isn't it great to feel so good. make sure to follow your diet and get
plenty of exercise. I had my surgery almost 7 months ago and have lost 99
lbs. I'm excited that it has been a "pain-free" process and
journey.

I had no pain at all. Was back at work in three days. My family member
was in the hospital 2 weeks. We are all different. I was a lucky one, and
a poster child, but all our recoveries are considered "normal",
according to my surgeon.
