My question to you would be...why go to Mexico? The surgeon you has listed
is one of the best in the country. He's in the same office as my doctor. I
had the lap band in May of 2005. I'll tell you right now that there's quite
a bit of maintenance in volved with the lap band. It has to be adjusted
about every six weeks until they find the right setting for you. I've been
very aggressive with having mine tightened and have enjoyed great results,
but it has come at a price. I've had trouble at times keeping food down
because it was too tight. I've now had to have it deflated and go back to
the doctor tomorrow to start to have it tightened again. Not a real big
deal, more of an inconvenience. But if you have yours done in Mexico, who
will be doing your follow up? As I've said, I've had good success with the
band. I've lost about 140 lbs. so far, but there is a lot more appointments
needed than if you had the RNY. Just thought I would give you my experience
so far with the band. It's a great tool but requires more maintenance than
I would care to have done out of the country.
Good Luck,
Bill
