I am a year post-op and just starting to have cycle irregularities. Until
now I have been like clock-work, even when I was pre-op. Someone mentioned
that when you lose weight, the hormone contained in the fat cells are
released and can cause all kinds of wacky things to happen. With my
symptoms, I'm wondering if its peri-menopause at the early age of 33. WLS
causes some strange things, but OH SO WORTH IT!!

hi there :) i have pcos so periods were always wacky, then straightened out
on its own for some weird reason. i had my period before my surgery and
then again right after. alot of women go through the same thing so its
normal. i think its the trauma on the body of going through a surgery and
once you start losing weight rapidly, estrogen levels go crazy. im nine
months out and things had returned to normal for awhile but now im having
some wacky cycles again. i get emotional and moody at times too. best of
luck to you. :)

Hi, I'm 15 months post op and my periods finally went normal at about 10
months or so. Before then they were heavy and painful as can be. Id go
through a whole big box of tampons and pads a month! Then, it was normal,
well as normal as I used to be when I was a teenager. THEN, my doc put me
on Welbutrin. Once my dose increased, then my period changed big time.
Now, they are heavy again. I have a bit of pain now too. On top of that,
instead of my clockwork every 28 days at 9pm routine, (weird I know!) It is
like every 21 days, then every 20 days, then this last one was like 18 or
19 days! Gosh pretty soon, I'm gonna have a constant neverending one! But
He just lowered my Welbutrin a lot, so we'll see what next month will
actually be like. But anyhow, perhaps you are having a reaction to the
Zoloft. Bring it up to the doc and ask him/her if perhaps this might
happen. Always as a doc. You never know! It might be serious, it might
not be. Best of luck to you, Annie

Hi! I'm almost 8 months out and my periods have been crazy. I'm having
one every 23 days and this last one lasted 9 days! I finally saw my OB-GYN
and he said that our bodies are going thru tremendous changes and that this
is to be expected. He did put me on progesterone (a plant based one) from
day 16-25 after my period. This should help regulate me back to 28-29 days
and only 4-5 days during. He also said that once we reach goal or are near
goal, our bodies should start settling down. Good luck to you!
